If you would like to learn something new or improve your skills there is a huge variety of art workshops running at the studio throughout the year on Tuesday evenings and weekends. Take a look at the list below and see what takes your fancy.

 

Tuesday Nights

Every Tuesday 7pm-9pm

Tuesday nights are all about relaxing, chatting, painting and drinking tea. It’s about taking that moment out of your busy life to enjoy doing something creative.

You can come and paint a piece of pottery from the shelf or join one of our weekly art workshops. You can come alone or come with friends. And, most importantly, you can help yourself to as much free tea and biscuits as you fancy. Tuesday nights are a child free zone so peace and quiet is assured. Groups of 6 people or more receive a discount. Please call for more information.

Art Club

We also hold monthly and weekly art classes in acrylics, watercolour, and charcoals as part of 'Art Club'.

Cancellation policy

We all know that sometimes despite our best intentions 'life' occasionally gets in the way. If you have booked a workshop and can no longer make it we can refund your booking if you let us know 14 days before the date of the workshop.  If you have to cancel less than 14 days unfortunately we cannot offer a refund as we will have bought materials and arranged tutors.

All Day Wheel Throwing Course (March)

Saturday 2nd March 10am-4pm

This is a great day for anyone who wants to have a real crack at mastering throwing clay on a wheel. Practice makes perfect, so enjoy spending all day learning how to throw pots until you make one you're proud of! This will be a small class of 4 people and is suitable for beginners and those who have thrown with us before. Once you have attended this class you can use the wheels to practice on at the studio for a reduced rate. 

This workshop costs £100. Please bring a packed lunch.

Georgia O'Keeffe art workshop

Saturday 2nd March 10am-2pm

Enjoy spending time being immersed in drawing and painting for the day. After looking at the artist Georgia O'Keeffe and her flower paintings, you will learn how to draw flowers, use acrylics, blend colours and painting a giant flower onto a large canvas. This step by step class is suitable for beginners or those wanting to get back into doing art, but need a little boost.

Butter Dish Workshop

Tuesday 5th March 7pm-9pm

Celebrate the anticipation of spring by designing a butter dish. You can choose your design on the day and we will help you create it! The little cow is painted separately and fixed on during the firing.

Lustre Techniques

Tuesday 12th March and Tuesday 19th march 7pm-9pm

Have you ever wondered how gold, silver and the mother of pearl sheen is added to ceramic pieces? Then this is the workshop for you. In week one we will show you how to silkscreen and ombre your pieces. They will then be fired and ready for week two, when we will add the lustres.  Firing them again makes the magic happen.

This workshop takes place over two consecutive Tuesdays and costs £40.

Vibrant abstract colour painting

Saturday 23rd March 10am-2pm

Enjoy learning how to make an abstract painting onto canvas to hang in your home. Learn how to select complimentary colours, create a composition and use the right brush strokes to create a contemporary piece of art using acrylic paints.

Mother's Day Pottery & Prosecco

Sunday 31st March (anytime between 10am-5pm)

This is the perfect gift for mums and grandmas all over. Come to our art studio on Mother's Day and she can pick a piece of pottery to paint whilst enjoying a complimentary glass of prosecco. It's a gift and experience all in one! Why not get yourself one too? Or you can pick a piece on the day to keep mum company. The £20 covers up to £20 worth of pottery and a glass of prosecco. If you’d like to paint a bigger piece you can pay extra on the day.

Black and Yellow Dotty Pot

Tuesday 2nd April 7pm-9pm

Enjoy creating this interesting yet simple to do design using specialist tools and masking off techniques. This gorgeous pot is not only visually very effective but also a very practical and can be used around the house for all sorts of things.

Polish Design Plates

Tuesday 9th April 7pm-9pm

This technique is all about the art of stamping. Enjoy building up rows and rows of patterns to create a dish that has a real Polish pottery feel about it. The trick with this one is knowing when to stop! You can choose either a fish or bird shaped plate for this design.

French Hen Plate (with Gold Detailing)

Tuesday 23rd April and 30th April 7pm-9pm

This fabulous project takes place over two weeks. In the first week you will be using stencils, silkscreens and masking off techniques to create the beautiful hen silhouette and background. The following week (once the piece has come through it's first firing) you will be adding the intricate gold detailing.

Drawing Faces in Black and White

Saturday May 11th 10am-2pm

Cream tea and mug or jug painting workshop

Silver Clay Jewellery Workshop (May 19th)

Sunday 19th May 10am-3pm

Learn how to make your own unique solid silver jewellery using a special silver clay produced in Japan. Once fired the clay turns into 99.9% solid silver. We will teach you how to shape the clay, add patterns, detail and attach findings. You will take home one or two beautiful pieces of silver jewellery. This workshop is suitable for beginners.

Flower Painting Workshop

Our studio is situated on a beautiful peony farm. To take advantage of this bounty of flowers we will be running a fun floristry workshop where you will help pick flowers and we'll teach you how to build a beautiful arrangement. You will go home with a stunning hand tied bouquet.

Discovering animals through Inks and watercolours
